Ladies versus Butlers! Review

Untitled.pngLadies versus Butlers! was released during the first half of 2010. The story focuses on Akiharu Hino, a young man who lives with his uncle after the death of his parents. Wishing to no longer burden his uncle, he travels to Hakureiryō Academy where he enrols in the House Management Department. He desires to become a butler for the upper class, however, his delinquent appearance frightens all the girls in the academy, (the majority of the school’s population). Akiharu soon meets a young girl called Tomomi Saikyō, he recognises her as one of his “childhood friends”, someone he knows well to be two-faced and manipulative and the cause of mush of his childhood traumatization. He also becomes acquainted with Selnia Iori Flameheart, she thinks very poorly of him due to his appearance and the two become frenemies. As time passes the population of the school comes to realise that Akiharu is not as bad as he may look.

My Review: This show is nothing special, I’m not going to sit here and talk about how great the story is or describe how interesting the characters are. No, this show is quite simply Fan-Service, and for the most part, it doesn’t try to be any other than just that, which I find quite commendable. I found it to be considerably humorous and it did give me my fair share of chuckles with its silly impossible circumstantial events. Despite my initial statement, I will say that the for what it’s worth, the characters that are present on a regular basis are easy to like and you will soon find yourself picking favourites. Ladies versus Butlers! is definitely aimed at a specific demographic, but if you find yourself in the mood for some quick fun laughs then why not check this one out.

I rate this anime 2.5/5.
